To make it less confusing let me just say there are three procedures: Open tuning at the key head, endplate tuning, and undercarriage tuning. To start tuning, note which strings have pitch changes (both raises and lowers). Then check which strings have more than one raise or more than one lower.

I had a Kline D10 9/8 (photos below) that was the most well thought out and machined pedal steel guitar of the 80+ I have or ever had. The Kline was beautifully put together. I liked the pedal rods, and the retainer clips to hold the knees flat when not in use and the ease of playing and balancing the pulls.

I use a '68 Twin that probably puts out closer to 65w than 75w, and it's great for pedal steel. I also have a 200w Peavey Session 400 that is considered more of a steel guitar amp, and it works great, too.

As sad as this makes me, it is of no consequence when compared to the loss of my friend, Jimmie; as the days pass, I'm more and more aware of the loss the whole steel guitar world has suffered.

That's exactly what it is. They were made by the Franklin company, and I believe only 25 were ever built. I also believe they came in both E9 and C6 tunings. They are played like a regular steel, but have the tone of a dobro. Paul Franklin obviously has at least one. Dan Tyack has one or two, and Peggy Green has 2.

The Peds and levers allow for "in family" chord voicings for each tuning and sit right in front of you. #6- the immediate benefit of a S10 is less weight. The immediate downside is the lack of the 2nd "6th" tuning. The 6th tuning can do a ton with NO pedals, but the addition of a few pedals makes life grand !

Posted 6 Aug 2008 5:34 am. I use hi-bass and lo-bass G for Dobro and for lap steel. The hi-bass tuning has a very traditional bluegrass sound. As Peter J mentioned, the lo-bass tuning seems to be a better all-around tuning for "Americana" styles. The 5-1-5-1 "power chords" in the bass can be used as both major or minor chords in a pinch.

SEO Analysis

SEO analysis involves examining the performance of a website, including titles, descriptions, keywords, and website speed. It also includes identifying popular keywords and researching competitor websites to understand their strategies. The analysis aims to optimize the website's visibility and improve its ranking on search engines.

Title Tag:
The Steel Guitar Forum

Length: 22 characters

Title tags are usually best kept short, within 50-70 characters. It's important to note that search engines will typically read the entire title tag even if it exceeds 70 characters, but there is a chance they may cut it off or disregard it.

Meta Description:
A discussion site for pedal steel, lap steel, and related musical instruments

Length: 77 characters

When crafting website descriptions, keep in mind that search engines only show the first 150-160 characters in search results. To ensure your entire description is visible, aim for a length of 25-160 characters. If your description is too long, it may get cut off. Conversely, if it's too short, search engines may add text from elsewhere on your page. Additionally, search engines may modify the description you provide to better match the user's search intent. It's best to strike a balance between brevity and relevance for optimal visibility.

Meta Keywords:
  • pedal steel guitar
  • lap
  • Hawaiian
  • Dobro

In the realm of search engine optimization, the meta keywords tag has become a relic of the past due to its potential for misuse, ultimately leading major search engines to disregard it in their ranking algorithms.

A crucial factor in search engine optimization is keyword density, which refers to the proportion of a particular keyword present in the text of a webpage. In order to achieve high rankings on search engine results pages, it is essential to maintain the appropriate keyword density for your primary keyword.

<h2>Welcome!</h2>

In SEO, the primary focus is placed on keywords within the content. The title of the page holds the highest importance, followed by heading tags such as h1, h2, and h3. The h1 heading should be the largest on the page, while the h2 heading should be slightly smaller, and the h3 heading even smaller. This hierarchical structure is crucial for optimizing search engine rankings.

Image Alt Attribute:
6 images found in your page, and 5 images are without "ALT" text.

What is the issue about?
The tag does not have an ALT attribute defined. As a general rule, search engines do not interpret the content of image files. The text provided in the attribute enables the site owner to provide relevant information to the search engine and to the end user. Alt text is helpful to end users if they have images disabled or if the image does not properly load. In addition, the Alt text is utilized by screen readers. Make sure that your Alt text is descriptive and accurately reflects what the image represents and supports the content on the page.

How to fix?
Use the <img alt> attribute to write descriptive content for the image: <img source='pic.gif' alt='Accurate and descriptive keyword text that represents the image.' />.

Website Speed Test (Desktop):
0.13 seconds

Website speed is a measurement of how fast the content on your page loads. Website speed is one of many factors involved in the discipline of search engine optimization (SEO), but it is not the only one. In a recent study, the average load time for a web page was 3.21s.
